Design Features

The West Island Line (WIL) is an underground railway which adopts the idea of a Community Railway. It will run across the densely populated areas of the Western District. Over 90% of the residents can conveniently access the railway on foot.

Convenient Pedestrian Network Connecting Uphill and Downhill Areas

The layout of station entrances will provide a convenient pedestrian network for both MTR passengers and the public to access destinations in the Mid-Levels area as well as the areas along Queen's Road West through the unpaid areas of the stations.

High-speed Lifts

For some of the deep stations, high-speed lifts are considered to be more effective than escalators to overcome the marked level difference between the station concourse and the street.
