This logo recognises success in reducing and maintaining a properly managed waste-reduction programme by the estate's management team.
May 2006 Hong Kong Institute of Architects Merit Award Sunny Bay Station was singled out for the elegant and lightweight roof membrane structure of the station that is appropriate to the natural setting of the area.
ACCA Hong Kong (The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) Awards for Sustainability Reporting The Corporation's Sustainability Report 2004 receives top honours for the 4th year in a row as the best overall report.
June 2006 Top Service Award - Public Transport Category, Next Magazine The Corporation is recognised for its service under the Public Utilities category for the 8th successive year in a row.
Platinum Award 2005/06, The Community Chest The Corporation, together with staff, donated between HK$828,000 and HK$1,999,999 to The Community Chest of Hong Kong.
July 2006 Green Building Awards, Professional Green Building Council 2006 Grand Award – New Buildings Category for Sunny Bay Station Sunny Bay Station has set a new benchmark for alternative approach to mass transit station design: bio-climatic responsive, energy efficient, cost effective, easy to maintain and adaptable from a life-cycle perspective.
August 2006 Community Chest President's Award 2005/06, The Community Chest The Corporation donated over HK$1 million over the year. Together with donations from staff and contributions from other events, the Corporation was the seventh top donor in the category of Companies, Organisations and Individuals.
September 2006 Performance of Public Transport Institutions in HK – Best Transport Operator Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong (DAB) In a telephone survey of around 900 local citizens, the Corporation has been regarded as the best Territory's public transport companies. In other surveys conducted at piers and at transport station exits, the Corporation has also been perceived as the best in delivering on time service.
Asia's Best Companies on Corporate Governance, Corporate Governance Asia This journal on corporate governance in Asia named the MTR Corporation's publicly-acclaimed track record for good corporate governance and recognised its effort to improve or enhance the standards of corporate governance.
October 2006 Asia's 200 Most Admired Companies, The Asian Wall Street Journal This annual survey (by interview) rates Hong Kong-based listed companies on five attributes: management's long-term vision, innovativeness in responding to customers' needs, quality of products and services, reputation and financial soundness.
November 2006 Best Annual Report Awards, Hong Kong Management Association Silver Award The Corporation's 2005 Annual Report is recognised as the excellent quality and disclosure standards of annual reports in Hong Kong. This award marks the 18th year running in winning amongst the top three categories for annual reports.
Devoted Sponsorship and Promotion Award 2006, HKSAR Government The Corporation was awarded for the support in providing free advertising space to promote the employment of people with disabilities.
Global Reporters 2006 Survey, jointly undertaken by SustainAbility, United Nations Environment Programme and Standard & Poors 7th Best Corporate Sustainability Report The Corporation has ranked seventh amongst the 100 global corporate leaders in sustainability reporting. Singled out for its reporting excellence, in particular governance and business strategy, the Corporation debuts as the only Asia-based corporation, the only transport organisation and one of only two non-OECD reporters amongst the top ten leaders named in the survey.
