$2 Promotional Fare
on Wednesdays and Public Holidays for Senior Citizens


The promotion is extended to 31 August 2010. Senior citizens can ride on the MTR on Wednesdays and public holidays* with their Elder Octopus card for just $2 a journey, making their travel more fun.

*Public holidays include 2, 3, 5 and 6 April; 1 and 21 May; 16 June and 1 July 2010.

Terms and Conditions:

  1. The offer applies only to Elder Octopus card users aged 65 or above for travelling on the MTR until 31 August 2010 on Wednesdays and public holidays (exclude Sundays).
  2. The offer is not applicable on the Airport Express, Light Rail, MTR Bus (Northwest New Territories), MTR Feeder Bus, East Rail Line's First Class, as well as journeys to and from Lo Wu and Lok Ma Chau stations.
  3. If the fare for the journey taken is below $2, senior citizens will only have to pay the normal Concessionary Fare of that journey.
  4. On top of $2 fare, senior citizens who enjoy the East Rail Line's First Class Service on Wednesdays and public holidays have to pay the East Rail Line's First Class Premium, equivalent to the normal Standard Class Concessionary Fare of the same East Rail Line journey.
  5. The promotional fare will automatically be deducted from the Octopus card at the exit gate.
  6. There is no limit on the number of times for a senior citizen to enjoy this $2 fare during the promotion period.
  7. If there is an overnight train service before the promotion day, the offer is effective from 5am based on the exit time through the ticket gate on that day.
  8. The promotion dates specified above are based on the operating hours of the MTR.
  9. MTR Corporation Limited reserves the right to alter or terminate the offer at any time without prior notice.
  10. MTR Corporation Limited reserves the right to make the final decision in the event of any dispute.
